Jaunes you have a devoted fan!

Joshua loves music! He dances when they play music at church or anywhere. But who he LOVeS to dance to is Juanes. He loves the albumn, undianormal. I guess it really does run deep in our roots! It is our magic bullet whenever he is sad. He can't get enough of juanes! I love him too so really, this is a win-win situation.

Mainly I love being his mother. This thing called motherhood really does get so much better as it goes along! Love being a mother, majorly takes the cake!

Some quotes I love by President Hinckley

"Each of you is a daughter of God. Reflect on all the wondrous meaning of that one paramount fact. He who is our Eternal Father has blessed you with miraculous powers of mind and body. He never intended that you should be less than the crowning glory of his creations."

-"Stand Strong against the Wiles of the World." Ensign 1995

Mr. Wallace: "Why must men only run the Church?"

President Hinckley: "Only men do not run the church. Men have their place in the Church. Men hold the priesthood offices of the Church. But women have a tremendous place in this Church. They have their own organization. It was started in 1842 by the Prophet Joseph Smith, called the Relief Society, because its initial purpose was to administer help to those in need. It was grown to be, I think, the largest women's organization in the world, with a membership of more than three million. They have their own offices,, their own presidency, their own board. That reaches down to the smallest unit of the Church everywhere in the world."

Mr. Wallace: "but they don't have the power."

President Hinckley: "They have office. They have responsibility. They have control of their organization."

M.r Wallace: "But you run it. The men run it. Look I'm not being..."

President Hicnkley: "The men hold the priesthood, yes. But my wife is my companion. In this Church the man neither walks ahead of his wife nor behind his wife but as her side. They are co-equals in this life in a great enterprise."

-"This Thing Was Not Done in a Corner." Ensign, 1996.

"I wish to say a few words on intellectualism--that quality that some say we deny in our work. A so-called scholar recently expressed the view that the Church is an enemy of intellectualism This strikes particularly at you people in your present circumstances. If he meant by intellectualism that branch of philosophy that teaches 'the doctrine that knowledge is wholly or chiefly derived from pure reason' and that 'reason is the final principle of reality,' then, yes, we are opposed to so narrow an interpretation as applicable to religion.

"Such an interpretation excludes the power of the Holy Spirit in speaking to and through man. Of course we believe in the cultivation of the mind. The emphasis in the classes you are taking in your various courses demands that cultivation of the mind and the use of its powers. But the intellect is not the only source of knowledge. There is a promise, given under the inspiration of the Almighty, set forth in these beautiful words: "God shall give unto you knowledge by his holy spirit, yea, by the unspeakable gift of the Holy Ghost."

-"Be Not Afraid, Only Believe" CES fireside 2001

I really loved these quotes and just wanted to publish them for my own record. I will probably forget about them if I didn't write them down. Thanks for indulging me :)

A Place...

I'm going to a fabulous place...

A place where outlet malls are plentiful...

a place where one of my dear old friends for life resides...

a place where the ocean breeze is around constantly...

a place bigger than my apartment now...

a place where the water and sand are great...

a place where I can literally shop until I drop...which I plan on doing!

a place where I won't have to worry about the problems here...

HURRRAAAYYYY!

Continuing thoughts...

I'm blogging again because I feel impressed to share what I have been blogging about on my friend's blog. The supposed heated debate that some people see in the Church.

Stay at home mother VS. Career Woman

I have written on her blog twice and feel that is all that I needed to do to express my thoughts. However, I wanted to expound a little more on my own blog.

Two items I would like to address.

Each women should activity seek spiritual guidance for what is best for herself and what is best for her family. It should not depend on books we learn from controversial classes, from the media, or any other bias outlet. It should come as direct revelation from our Heavenly Father.

I'd like to call attention to my first example. My aunt worked full-time while her kids were growing up. She was a fabulous woman! I have never heard her children or anyone who knew her condemn her for being a working woman. On the contrary, she has been praised for her tenacious personality, and her goodness. No one can say otherwise. That decision to work full-time I'm sure came after deciding what was best for her and her family based on personal revelation. I know because my aunt chose to work her husband chose to be more involved then most dads. He helped around the house and helped the children when she couldn't be there. It requires both parties in a marriage to sacrifice in order to make anything work. If you choose one way then you make adjustments to meet the needs of the children.

The second item I would like to call your attention to is that we as members of the church are quick to judge. We compare everything. Callings, sizes of families, and the kinds of homes we live in. That is why this is sometimes a heated debate. Women who choose to stay at home sometimes find fault with their counterparts who have chosen to work. And of course vice versa. Women who work find fault with women who stay at home. We may hear, "they were so driven, why would they give that all up to have children?" Or things like, "there children wouldn't have made those mistakes if the mother was home."

Have you heard of Lamen & Lemuel? I'm 100% sure that Sariah stayed home and her children still chose to rebel.

My point is that I do not believe there is such a rift as we often believe. And if there is, shame on us. Who are we to judge each other? We can't understand personal circumstances and we never will. Accept those women in the church who choose one way or the other for who they are; strong, powerful, passionate, educated, tenacious, and long suffering people.

Stop trying to categorize everyone. If you don't fit the model that is probably a good thing. Be strong because you want to be strong, not because it is controversial. Live your life the way you know you should and nothing else will matter because it isn't man who judges us in the end.
