Bountiful Living

For those of you who know me well, know that I have in the past complained about living in Bountiful. I complained that it is too confined, conservative, and has little diversity. After living in California for a while I am so grateful to be here in Utah. I'm grateful for Utah's Clean Air Act and I'm especially grateful for the ward that I grew up in.

Recently our stake presidency was reorganized and President Eyring came to speak to our stake (which is actually his stake). I can't believe that I've been blessed enough to have President Eyring in my stake, numerous members of the seventy, and others who are such great examples of righteous men and women. President Eyring said he did his homework before moving to Bountiful and statistically Bountiful was the best place. My little bubble is very cozy and I'm so grateful to be living in this beautiful city!

Another reason I love bountiful is that you never know who will show up to a funeral. I attened a funeral of a girl from my old ward. She was 15 and had been admitted to BYU early and was applying for the Presidental scholarship at BYU. Her family is probably the most perfect family. She died in a skiing accident a few weeks ago. Matt and I decided we would go because we felt like we should. When we arrived I heard the bishop say, "and President Monson will be presiding during this funeral." I was shocked. President Monson and President Uchtdorf was there with his wife. Almost the entire first presidency came to this girl's funeral. They didn't know her personally or the family but felt compelled to attend the funeral. President Monson spoke and it was AMAZING! He again emphasized that Bountiful is full of wonderful people and he loves coming there. My favorite comment from his talk was about him telling his wife he was going to attend the funeral. She asked if anyone invited him to attend and he said, "someone did." I love this church and I love our prophet!
