Here is to a new year of being more optimistic and more like my amazing children. They teach me everyday about how to be better.

Happenings in Tennessee

Tennessee is hot! I didn't want AZ because of the heat and I got heat plus humidity...but like my sister said, it's just like the winter in Utah, you just don't go out as much. Apparently it doesn't snow here and if it does it's about an 1/8 of an inch and people freak out that they drive crazy and brush up on their emergency kits. Hahaha.

For out last week of freedom we finished unpacking, bought some much needed accessories, had a LOTR marathon but only made it through to the first half of the second movie (we have the extended versions so they are extra long), and have gone swimming pretty much everyday.

Joshua loves it here and I love watching him run down the hall because...oh wait, we have a hall! He's done great at adjusting and still thinks briley, Reece, alice, Sadie, and papas...and even Joe are coming over soon. Sad. But we will get to Utah soon enough. We also bought Joshua a car's toilet becauese we hoped that it will help not be afraid of the toilet and we can start potty training! Hurray! Cross your fingers for us.

Samuel hates the heat here and now hates the car...go figure...it's not like he spent 4 days in the car or anything. But he's sleeping like a champ and is such an easy baby! He smiles and coos and hardly ever cries...which is very different from the first month of his life. But he was hungry so I guess I can't blame him for that.

Matt starts work on Monday and we will finally officially not be students anymore. I still don't feel like I'm that far from Utah because we lived Logan and we never saw anybody anyway. Life is good here...hot but good.

Good-bye parties

Before we left we had some good bye parties. My parents came up and brought us delicious food and took us out for some Abbie ice cream...I think we only had it three times while living there for two years. But it was great and that night we also saw fireworks from the stadium! They were amazing and Joshua loved them. He always has seen great fireworks...last year he saw them in CA over the harbor...that was fabulous!

Then my siblings threw together a last minute get together and it was great! All the grandkids were there and we ate some really delicious food.

Matt's parents came up on Sunday too and spent some time with us before we left.

We obviously have some great families and we are so grateful for them and all they do!

Here are some pics of all our cute nieces and nephews we got to sat good-bye to.

Tennessee

We made it! We left Logan one week ago and drove a crazy distant to our new home. It took four days but it was fun and I'm proud I drove that far while following matt and Joshua in the Uhaul.

Some funny things on our drive-

-matt hit a poor already been hit bunny with the giant haul and luckily I was far enough behind him that it didn't get on the car but it seriously exploded...I know sick but at the same time it was funny...Hillaree and jeff know I laugh at inappropriate times

-there was a massive storm in Wyoming and most cars had to pull off the road because you could not see anything! It was crazy rain with hale the size of marbles! Basically Wyoming was an ugly stressful state to drive through

-on our second night we stayed at a Marriott and ate delicious over-priced food. But I told matt I didn't care because I just drove 10 hours through two states and ate nothing but granola bars all day...so I was going to order room service.

-our apartment is ...well... An apartment. It's more space than we've ever had and is clean/safe but not exactly what we were looking for. This made me sad initially. Matt came home and saw me starring into my closet and he asked what I was doing. I told him, I know this might be vain but whenever I get sad I just come look at my pretty shoes and awesome designer finds I found for cheaper than you can find their counterparts at walmart, and somehow life gets better. I then said whoever said worldly things can't buy happiness didn't know how to shop. He just laughed at me.

-Joshua loves the extra space here and is always running around saying some random adorable thing and it makes me so happy he has so much more space.

-for the first time in our marriage I don't have stuff under our bed! Yes! I've waited years to say that!

-our ward is great and we do really like it here! I'm excited for matt to start work and I'm excited to get more familiar with Tennessee. Pictures to come of our apartment ...that will be mainly for my family who will never probably see our first great apartment here.
