"You will experience great joy in life as you eradicate adult-onset pessimism and substitute childlike optimism."

Here is to a new year of being more optimistic and more like my amazing children. They teach me everyday about how to be better.

Precious moments

This is a video of Joshua reading. We have really stepped up our reading time with him and it sure has paid off. Joshua really wasn't ready to read until recently. We always read scriptures and during the first 6 months of his life we read LOTR's to him. But then we moved and he didn't seem that interested in books anymore. He just didn't have the attention span or the willingness to look at books. But now he loves them and can't get enough of them.

This was taken when I was getting ready to shower and I heard him in his room talking to himself. I peeked in and he was surrounded by books and reading out loud to himself. Hurray for two things; playing by himself and reading by himself! My kid is much more developed in his coordination, reasoning, and comprehending skills but hasn't taken too much to reading/writing/coloring/talking. Which is hard to see because every other kid his age in our ward is great at reading/writing/coloring/talking. But I figure those other things will come and it is good that he is so coordinated early on...hopefully that means he will be an awesome athlete!!!!!

Some funny observations from my pregnancy:

*My balance is so off. Since this winter I have fallen on the ice twice...once in our parking lot and the other at the hospital, on my way to my 32 week appointment...no broken anything, just mad because I feel like a spaz.

*When talking to matt we figured out something special about our family. Each of us holds a trump card with the other. I wear the pants with Matt (according to Matt), he wears the pants with Joshua, and Joshua wears the pants with me. I know, I'm pathetic, but when Joshua looks at me with those sad eyes I'm willing to give him just about anything.

*The doctor at my last appointment said, "Wow, looks like your belly is growing." Mean, but I know he meant it well because I've gained so little. But it's true, it is growing and I will post more pictures.

*today I realized my stomach looks like a dirty potatoe with one flared nostril. Matt still thinks it's cute but I hate it and can't wait until I get my stomach back! Josh yells at my belly button, 'get in!' He is so cute!

*I recently acquired a sinus infection and, the cure of course, involved medicine that has side-effects of vomiting and nausea...just what I needed. So we ditched the antibiotics and are just hoping that my sinus infection goes away before it gets worse.

*My baby moves so much! He is constantly kicking and jumping. I was worried because I don't remember Joshua moving this much. Doctor said, every baby is different and as long as they are moving at least 10 times in one hour, during the whole day you are okay. I'm worried my baby moves too much! What does that mean? Will he be just as active and crazy as joshua, or worse?

*I'm mainly just really excited to be a mother of two little boys! Scared that they will out run, out think, and wear me out but I can't wait to have him here! Joshua is perfect for me and I can't imagine another perfect child in our house. What fun it will be! What work it will be! But I just can't wait!

Valentines Day & 32 weeks

32 weeks! I'm getting so close! I can't wait!!!! I'm so anxious to get our little boy here. I'm doing okay but the week I had to do the diabetes test was rough. People said I'd be fine if I kept it down for an hour or so. Yup, nope. It came up about 4 hours later and I wasn't able to eat anything that day. I feel like once I throw-up, it's like a gateway to a crappy day. So I try so hard not too because I know if I do then I'm in for it.

Doctor says everything looks good still. I've only gained a fraction of what I gained with Josh but I'm measuring one week earlier than the doctor puts me at...right on with my body's clock though. So there you go, I only gained a few pounds but I'm still large and in charge with stretch marks. Matt said something sweet to me about this. He said, "can't believe you gained so little weight." I said I know, cause it looks like I have gained a LOT more than that. To which he responded, "yeah you do!" I was so offended but I just laughed hysterically because it's true. I love my hubby!

For Valentine's day we went and test drove some of the cars we've been thinking about buying. It was so fun and now we can't wait for that job to finalize so we can go get a new car and be done with school! Our friends watched Josh so it was a lot of fun not having to drive around with a toddler for once!

We also have plans for dinner tonight but that's not that interesting.

I'm so grateful for such good friends and for my amazing husband! He really does balance everything in his life so well. :) I love you Matt!
