How We Spend Time...

This is how we spend time here in TN. We love it here! We play with Luke at the Museum, we love watching movies with our 'special' animals (probably why we love the Zoo so much), and of course visit the Zoo any time it is not 100 degrees here!

Only downside to living in the South, humidity.

DIY bug

I am "not do it yourself" inclined at all. But I really wanted to get a train table for my boys, it seems like every one else had a train table except us. But they can be expensive and I worry about driving somewhere random to get a good deal from craigslist on a train table with two small children. After a lot of thought I realized I could make one for cheap. My train table total cost, about $40.

$10 for the table at Good Will.
$30 for supplies.

The benefit; I spent time with my kids teaching them how to work. Joshua and Samuel loved helping, probably too much. Pres. Thomas S Monson was once asked by a mother what should I make sure my son knows before he goes on a mission. He told her Three things. Your son needs to learn how to get along with others, he needs to learn to cook, and he needs to learn how to work.

My oldest brother is really good at teaching his daughters how to work. He is very "do it yourself" oriented and I hope that we can teach our boys to be the same. And I hope we can teach them the importance of working hard.

The table didn't turn out perfectly, but we like it and can't complain about the price.

Cheekwood Treehouses

Yesterday we went to Nashville botanical gardens. We went with our good friend Luke and his mom. We were able to see these amazing tree houses that were based off of books. It was hot, but we had a lot of fun. The grounds were beautiful and and the staff at the botanical gardens was great! We are so lucky to have good friends here. I really like parts of the South. I basically love Nashville.

I found out though that samuel will probably be just like Joshua, constantly running away from me and trying to hide. What kills me is that they just laugh hysterically in my face as they run away. At least I will always get my exercise.

Moments in My Life...

It has been a rough week. I played a single parent, lost my child 2 days in row (due to him running away and 'hiding'), poor child has night diarrhea (is that even a condition?), and of course just the every day stress of being a person.

But there are moments in my life when I realize that it's all worth it. Everything is as it should be. And things will workout, they always do.

Someday my child will not 'hide' from me, and teach his little brother NOT to do so, and maybe one day feel like a well put together mother, like in those Petunia Pickle Bottom ads. Comparing, told you it was a vice.

But I am grateful for those golden moments, when you feel so overwhelmed, and your children teach you just to laugh. Here is some of the laughter that lifted me this week.

There is a picture missing, but since my kids were naked (ran away from me while trying to get them dressed after a bath) and rocking it out to my music as a brother duo, I decided against taking a physical picture and opted out for a mental one.

It was priceless. Made me laugh the rest of the night.
