Matt and have been through a lot this year. Together we only have two surviving grandparents. Both are our beloved grandmothers. Now we only have one.
This last year was full of hardships; STarting grad school, trying to decide if we should stay for the MBA and incur more debt, whether I should get a job or stay home with Joshua, losing a nephew, losing a Grandmother, and a Grandfather.
It is a new year and now we starting all the trials again. Joshua has been way sick and on Sunday morning we got word that Matt's Grandma had died. We were so sad. I have only known MAtt's family for about 4 years but in that time I have learned a lot from them.
This is a shout out to Grandma Guernsey!

Update on Joshua...
If I had been a man I would of majored in neuroscience and then become a fantastic brain surgeon. I LOVE medicine, health, anatomy, physiology, microbiology, pathophysiology, and all the other sciences that has to do with the body. I am telling you this because I knew that my son didn't quite fit the RSV symptoms and it sounded like it could be something else.
Mainly I knew because I have had pneumonia, Bronchitis, and walking pneumonia several different times in my life. All before I graduated high school. So the doctors thought it was RSV....
the test results are in....
Joshua had a really bad ear infection and pneumonia. Not fun, he has been hacking himself to sleep every night for the past 3 nights. It has been awful! I hate not sleeping but what is worse than no sleep is having an extremely sick child, while having huge demands on your time. When it rains it really pours people.
But I have a better handle on things today. I have had a lot of time to think about everything and I am better now.
Just thought I would update all of you!

Joshua is ONE...well almost
I needed to do something productive so I thought I would blog ;). We were planning on celebrating Joshua's birthday this Friday with some people from our ward. We had it all planned, the food, the guest list, everything but something has halted our awesome plan. Joshua has been incredibly ill.
Joshua has never been REALLY sick before but this time he had a 102 degree fever, dry cough, he was listless, and irritable. We called our Doc but he said it sounds like RSV but there is no magic bullet to kill that virus.
"We just have to let it run its course and wait."
As a parent that kind of answer doesn't really fly well. I hate doctors when I talk to them as an on-call person. They always seem irritated that I called, well if you don't like being on-call then maybe you should of chosen a different profession. Seriously.
Luckily our Bishop is a Pediatrician who apparently has a lengthy list of accomplishments and is amazing. With my new calling he is like my number 2 person I text (number one being Matt) so I called him and basically cried while I told him what was wrong. I felt so embarrassed but my son was hurting and I didn't know how to fix it. [side note] In my infectious disease class we learned worst case scenarios of RSV and other like diseases so I was a little panicked. But the Bishop calmed me down and he really took the time to explain things to me.
Matt and I both agreed that both of us have never been more nervous/scared before. It is incredible how much you can love someone. He is our precious baby.
So I was planning on having some awesome pictures of his birthday party, video footage of him walking because he is FINALLY walking. He is even walking really well with his cough medicine that makes him drowsy. He is so smart and continues to develop so quickly.
Nothing in life is more important than your family. I recently had an opportunity which I have been waiting for, for a job. However, after getting my calling and the recent events with Joshua I really have realized that the most important place for me is in the home. Myself, and the World will tell me that is wrong but it is not. The extra income would be nice but I would miss out on my son. I would sacrifice his well being for money. Doesn't that sound twisted? So, even though I have lofty dreams for myself and the future
"the MOST important use I can make of my education and talents is in the home (President Hinckley)."
I know that to be absolutely true. I love my family and I'm so grateful for the gospel, a husband who honors his priesthood, neighbors who honor their priesthood and come to help give blessings at the drop of a hat, doctors who really take the time to understand, and for my Bishop. Thanks Bishop V!!
Just kidding, My amazing husband made the videos work...is there anything he can't do? Amazing!

Look What I Can Do...
My little boy really loves his dad...and he loves to copy everything he does. He now watches carefully what Daddy does and tries to replicate it in his own way. Matt juggles extremely well and Joshua has always loved to watch. Now we captured him trying to juggle just like Dad.
