Joshua is four!

After surviving the flu I am posting about my big boys birthday. We had GiGi's cupcakes for breakfast, chik-fila for dinner, followed by whatever he wanted at marble slab. Then the next day we had a small party at monkey Joe's. Joshua was thrilled. He had fun and loved sitting on his large blow-up chair in the party room. I can't believe he's four. He's still so perfect! He makes me laugh everyday and love how sweet he is. Can't wait to see how much he will change this year. He loves being a sun beam and now is okay with not being in nursery.

Random thoughts...

On Monday we find out the gender of smith baby number 3. We are overwhelmed with the idea that we are actually having a third child. And even more overwhelmed with the possibility of having a girl.

All day I play trucks, build Lego towers/garages, and play Percy because Joshua is Thomas. We bike ride and play tackle football. There is no pink anywhere. No superfluous lace/princess shoes. What would we do? More importantly how could I afford a girl? Especially when I want her dressed in mini-boden clothes. Those clothes are so chic!

I'd have to deal with the thought that she will face body image problems, wonder if she really is beautiful like mommy and daddy say, deal with some punk guy breaking her heart, and deal with being a woman in general. But at the sometime I'd love nothing more than to teach a little girl all the things I wish I would of known. How to be a woman of force, yet gentle and smart. How to be a feminist without taking it one step too far. A little Ann Taylor girl mixed with a little Mia Hamm, because she'd only have brothers to play against.

But if its another boy than we will be so excited! To teach strong young boys how to become men of God. I always have had guy best friends. Never had that close girl thing with other girls. We are perfectly happy with all little boys. And our shopping budget won't be overextended. Love the idea of being surrounded by good strong priesthood men.

My current Lego garage for trains and cars, Sam jamming it out on Joshua's drums and what my living room looks like when I exercise. I come downstairs to see most of their bedding downstairs, which they've thrown down the stairs and are currently watching some monster truck documentary. Or watching Joshua watch DNA movies or flu virus animation films, I think we may have a doctor on our hands. He LOVES to learn about red blood cells, germs, and viruses. He frequently talks about his antibodies and natural killer cells.

Joshua...

Joshua will be four soon and I just wanted to post some cute pictures of him and journal about how special he is. So this is just me bragging about how great my son is.

Joshua is perfect. There really isn't another way to describe him. He is sweet, kind, he definitely has a good heart, he is tender, loving, and extremely energetic!

I cannot believe he will be four soon. Four years...I can't even remember him being Samuel's age. He grew up so fast, riding on long bike rides with us, and always up for an adventure. He always ask me what we are going to do the next day.

He always wants to be going somewhere, serving others by visiting or leaving them goodies, and he LOVES to work.

He loves to help me mop and clean the bathrooms and always wants to help me do anything I do.

He enjoys going to the Kroger because they have mini-shopping carts and he has to have his full before I can put anything in my cart.

He is extremely independent. But also very dependent on me. After I came home from the hospital with Samuel, when Sam had his seizures, Joshua ran to me and started to cry. He told me to NEVER leave him again.

He gets worried when I go upstairs without telling him, and rushes to find me, once he realizes I have am not downstairs.

Loves his little brother and is so disappointed when Samuel doesn't want to play with him anymore or when Sam has to nap.

He is very protective. While playing at a play area, some kid pushed Samuel and Joshua ran up to the kid, yelled, "you don't push my brother" and then lifted him up and tackled him and started punching the other kid. Both kids walked away crying and Joshua had a scratch on his face. But I couldn't believe how loyal he was to Samuel.

I love being a mom. And Joshua teaches me so much every day. Especially how to enjoy the little things in life. Like balloons, playing chase with me, bubbles or dancing our problems out to loud music.

Here are some funny things he has told me lately. I had them all written down on my old phone but then it died and I have tried to recall all of them. But at least I remembered the best one.

Josh:"Mom I want some coal"
Me:"Why?"
Josh:"So I can make a fire and be warm"
(we were biking outside in the cold weather)

Josh: "Mom you look like a princess."

Josh: "You are the best mom ever!"

Josh: "Mom, that was the best prayer ever! Good job!"

Me: "I am sorry we are having a bad day."
Josh: "Is that because you are hungry?"(I am cranky when I am pregnant, but to be fair, I am ALWAYS hungry.)

Josh: "Mom my cars don't know the gospel! Someone needs to teach them! Hurry!" (in reference to a toy car attendant figure who looks just like s missionary, I then had to go over the first discussion with his cars.)

Josh: "Mom, am I being good?"

Me: "What do you want for your birthday?"
Josh: "Mom, I want a new iphone for you!"
Me: "That is what YOU want for YOUR birthday?"
Josh: "yeah."

Josh: "Mom if you are good, Santa will bring you a new iphone on Christmas Eve."

Josh: "Santa LOVES me!"

Josh: "Primary is even more fun than nursery."

I cannot wait for another year of growth and fun with this guy! What a sweetheart!
