"You will experience great joy in life as you eradicate adult-onset pessimism and substitute childlike optimism."

Here is to a new year of being more optimistic and more like my amazing children. They teach me everyday about how to be better.

The Ties that Bind

Our first family photo of all of us. Too bad Joshua is asleep. Actually he did really well at my Grandpa's funeral.
My whole family was there except our missionary, Jake. It was great to see everyone.

This makes me cry. My grandma is so strong, I would of been a mess. I love that our country honors men that have served valiantly.

So I haven't written for a while because life got crazy. I did lose my beloved Grandpa and the funeral services were a perfect reminder of how much I appreciate the gospel. Knowing that I will see my grandpa again is the knowledge that kept me from weeping uncontrollably.
The Monday after my grandpa's funeral we received news that Matt's Grandpa smith died. We were both taken back at how we lost both our living grandpa's in one week. We joked at first that they must of been friends and called one another to come home.
Going to the funeral services of both made me realize how important families are. How important it is to be a good example to children. My grandparents lived a righteous life and taught their children the gospel. They taught them well enough that all of their children and grandchildren that are currently married have been married in the temple. They have a wall in their house that has a picture of every marriage in front of a different temple. I stand in awe when I see this wall. It is so special.

Quig...Love ya!

My grandfather passed away this week. He was the most amazing man I have ever met. Matt & I share our wedding anniversary with him and his lovely wife. I just wanted to quickly let everyone know how incredible he is.

First of all as a child he always snuck me out of the living room and gave me more candy, even after Grandma said no more. He let me tease him about how he had no hair and laughed constantly with me.

When Matt and I moved up here I started taking care of him M-F. Grandpa started to recognize my car and one day Matt took my car and made a surprise visit. He came out to greet who he thought was me but found Matt. Matt said he was talking and looking very disappointed about why I wasn't there and what he was doing there and where was I.

While helping my grandfather wash his hands I was hit by a surge of saliva. I started to laugh, more at being confused and then being spit at. I asked him why he did that because he was smiling. I then said, did you think you were brushing your teeth? He said Yes, and started to laugh hysterically. We both laughed for a while.

When I was pregnant I was so sick. I happened to be over there to watch the BYU football game and started to feel really sick. I decided to have Matt take me home but on our way out he stopped us. I said I didn't feel well and made a sad face. He immediately came over and gave me a hug and said, Yes, Yes, and padded me on the back. He really looked like he sympathized with my pain. Even after being a stroke victim he was attentive to others.

Love you forever!

Getting Bigger

At his two month check-up Joshua was 13 lbs, and 22 1/2 inches. He is huge! He was in the 75% for weight and the 50% for height. He is growing so fast and has almost offically moved from newborn onesies to 3 month ones.

This is him in 3 month clothing. His belly is a little too big but his legs are too short for older clothing.
Getting ready to take Joshua out in the cold. He doesn't like wearing his body suite but I like it because it keeps him warm.

My adorable little boy.
