So this is my pride and joy. I just wanted to let some of you know how this all played out. Wednesday morning we noticed that something wasn't right so we went to the hospital to see if I was going into labor. Turns out I 'might' be but since I wasn't dilated enough they could not keep me. The next night during Grey's Anatomy my contractions started to be closer together and more painful. We worried now that I was going into labor and jumped into the car. Unfortunately we received the same answer...not dilated enough so we can't keep you. I asked them how am I going to sleep through these contractions? They said they would give me something for the pain but it didn't even take the edge off. Matt spent the whole night listening to me sing, "I am a child of God" and squeezing his hand until he woke him up. Then I would fall right back asleep until the next contraction. I had a doctor's appointment the next day and was now officially one day late. The doctor examined me and said I'm dilated more and everything looks like labor. Check into the hospital in an hour if you still have contractions.
There I was finally admitted because I was dilated to a 5. That was finally the lucky number. However, my contractions never got closer together and I ended up waiting for them to get closer until about 1:30am. The nurse asked if there was any question on my due date...of course there was...three different doctors opinions and my own bodies clock. Turns out the baby was a little "over-done" and his skin was really dry. The doctor explained it like this, "it is like sitting in a hot tub too long, which is why his skin is dry." At 2:00am they wheeled me into an operating room and preceded to do the c-section. Keep in mind that I'm running on no sleep and to be honest... a little scared.
Matt stood by and held my hand and just talked to me. It was so comforting! The baby finally came at 2:37am and I got to see him before they took and washed him. He was so cute and it still hadn't sunk in that he was mine.
Now it definitely feels like he is mine and I think he is the most beautiful child I have ever seen. I'm so happy he is healthy and strong. I'm now recovering from the surgery just fine and enjoying being with my little one!
